The pretty Italian port city of Imperia is the capital of the province of the same name and originally consisted of two places that grew together. Porto Maurizio, the somewhat more original part of the city with its cozy old town with many pretty alleys and old houses, and Oneglia with the modern port, from where various excursions start.
