At the gates of the Cezallier lies Ardes-sur-Couze, a picturesque little town on a basalt promontory that preserves numerous testimonies of its medieval past. Between lakes and volcanoes, the Cezallier is an unspoiled area with vast plateaus where the volcanic relief takes a break. It is located in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. From the springs of the Couze d'Ardes to the salt springs of Arvie, the Cezallier is a paradise for anglers, especially with the lake of Roche Orcine at 1200 m above the plain of Jassy. It is the realm of wide open spaces where hikers, horse riders, mountain bikers, skiers, tobogganers and lovers of cheese, mushrooms, blueberries, wild raspberries, daffodils and narcissi will find what they are looking for. The main attractions in the area are the Auvergne animal park, Issoire, the nature reserve of the Valley of the Saints and the ruins of the Doigt de Merc?ur.
