You can also visit the town of Modica and immerse yourself in the history of chocolate production. One of Modica's fascinating sights is the Cava d'Ispica, a long gorge full of caves and archaeological sites. It is a kind of open-air museum with traces dating back thousands of years, from the Bronze Age to the late Middle Ages. The gorge cuts through the landscape over a length of 13 kilometers between Ispica and Modica, is 100 meters deep and half a kilometer wide in some places. The baroque towns of Ispica and Scicli are also worth a visit.
