As it has the only ferry port on the island, it is also the main transportation hub of Ugljan. The beautiful nature of the island with its olive groves, vineyards, macchia, forests and sandy and rocky beaches makes Ugljan a paradisiacal vacation destination. In Preko you can admire the typical Dalmatian architecture. For example, visit the Romanesque church of St. John the Baptist from the 12th century or the ruins of St. Michael's Fortress from the 13th century. The ferry takes you to nearby Zadar, which was already a settlement in Illyrian times, in just 30 minutes. Discover the rich cultural heritage and sights such as the Sea Organ and the "Greeting to the Sun" light installation. Also, don't miss the opportunity to see if Alfred Hitchcock was right to claim that Zadar has the most beautiful sunset in the world!
