These regions have a mild climate, and for the anecdote, Maurs, the little town next to the campsite, is nicknamed the little _Nice du Cantal_.
The campsite is more precisely situated in the _Châtaigneraie cantalienne_ (Cantalien chestnut grove), due to the many chestnut trees that were once grown in the region. There's a museum dedicated to the area at Mourjou (5km from the campsite)_La maison de la Chataîgne_. Every year in October, Mourjou hosts a fair to celebrate the fruit and its traditions. Not to be missed! Many typical villages are worth a visit in the chataigneraie (Marcolès, La rocquebrou, Montsalvy, Maurs and its Thursday market.... The chestnut grove is also the starting point for numerous hikes, bike rides, fishing and peaceful walks... You'll be enchanted by the landscapes to discover... The Châtaigneraie is not the only area to visit from our campsite, many tourist sites located in Aveyron (6 km from the campsite), or in the Lot (5km from the campsite) are to be visited : Here are some ideas of visits at about 1 hour maximum from the campsite, the proposed list is far from being exhaustive. Don't hesitate to ask us for more information, and vary the pleasures. Every day, you'll have the impression of changing vacation destination: one day the Quercy limestone plateaux, another day Le Puy Mary, or the Lot valley....This unusual accommodation with its unique design is completely in tune with the times.
