Castiglione del Lago est une commune italienne située dans la province de Pérouse, dans la région d'Ombrie. C'est au bord du lac Trasimène, le 4ème plus grand lac d'Italie, que se trouve précisément Castiglione del Lago. Le lac Trasimène est un parc naturel riche abritant trois îles : Maggiore, Minore et Polvese. 

Castiglione del Lago est une village pittoresque et authentique, ayant d'ailleurs été classé parmi les plus beaux bourgs d'Italie. Construit sur un promontoire de roche calcaire, sur les rives orientales du Lac Trasimène, il fait partie de la Communauté de Montagnes, un ensemble de villages de montagne. 

Le patrimoine de Castiglione de Lago est à découvrir à travers son Palais Ducal des Della Crogna, où l'on peut voir de magnifiques fresques sur le thème de la mythologie réalisées par Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi et Salvio Salvini. On peut aussi y voir un autre édifice important, et certainement le plus fascinant du village : le château aux quatre tours, représentant l'un des plus beaux exemple d'art militaire de la région. 

Tout au long de l'année, le village célèbre différentes fêtes populaires et évènements, parmi lesquels le rassemblement international d'aviation sportive : le Meeting de la Primavera (en avril), le Rassemblement International Folklorique en août, le Coloriamo i Cieli : une manifestation géante autour des cerfs volants.
